John with fabric

Sometimes when I make something for myself the garment starts with a pattern I like, or I have an occasion where I need something to wear. This started with the fabric, quite some time ago. I had no specific plan at the time but loved the colour and weight. Time passed....

Hannah and Pete first contacted me many many months ago to discuss Hannah's wedding dress and I was delighted to be involved. We started the process with no set idea of the finished product but a strong sense of style and theme. They had chosen to have a "Steampunk" theme and knew the colour scheme would be purple and gold.

Why do I need my wedding dress altered

The glib answer here it- to make it fit, but really why doesn’t it fit perfectly in the first place?

The answer is really quite straightforward, unless you have your dress made to measure, which entails multiple fittings in person with your dressmaker then your dress will have been made to a standard, off the rack, size.
